The indestructable Earth

For some time, I’ve been thinking that the conversation about climate change and environmental degradation needs to be placed in a broader geologic context. The Earth has experienced a lot of things in its 4.6 billion years of history, and it has always survived. Humans certainly have the power to alter the planet in geologically significant ways, but these changes may be more of a threat to us than to the Earth at large. See why I think ‘Save the Humans’ should supplant ‘Save the Earth’ as the rallying cry of the environmental movement in this essay for Idealist.org’s Week of Dangerous Ideas.
